Being successful at work/school while working and schooling from home

We all have had to adjust recently some of us by working at home and if you haven’t, good for u, but it’s hard. It’s not impossible though, and I am here to help.

Everyone has probably told you this but first make sure to create a home office. Nothing fancy is necessary but you have to create an area with all your essentials you need for work or school. Tip: Keep things fun by getting bright colored items and things that will capture your attention. I love all things pink so my laptop has a highlighter pink case and A pink poof pen that I always forget to use but it’s cute. I love going into my office area and that’s half the battle.

Get an Agenda… I know I know you never use it. Being organized is essential to being successful. Maybe the organizer doesn’t work for you, maybe you want an oversized calendar on your desk so you can see important info, dates, and to do lists. I have an oversized 7 day calendar on the wall of my office (I tend to stand or walk in my office more than sit). I am a totally scatter brain so I have to write every idea immediately when I hear it so I also use an agenda when I remember.

Make sure your family know when you are in the office you are at work. My fiancé actually texts me while I’m in the home office and he is in the living room, because you can’t get anything done if your always distracted. Even if you write a blog you need time to focus to get your thoughts together and produce your best work.

Take a lunch. Very important to break the monotony of your work day and get a lunch. You don’t even have to spend money. I pack a lunch and eat outside most days when the weather is good. Especially during this quarantine it definitely kept me sane in the beginning.

Common mistakes

You don’t need a television anywhere close to where u are studying or doing conference calls. Shut it down, at least give yourself 2/3 hours of uninterrupted work.

Do not try to bring your computer to your bedroom, either you will fall asleep or never be able to sleep in your bed again without thinking about work. Stay out of your bedroom if you can I know it’s comfy but your trying to be productive.

What to do at home if we shut down again.

here are some things to do in case we shut down again:

  1. Read a book! If your looking for a fun good read try Gucci Mane’s new book, easy read and it’s very interesting.
  2. learn how to cook a new recipe. Go on Pinterest and learn to cook a recipe of something you have in your fridge. Take inventory first. Chop everything early so other ppl can help without getting in the way.
  3. learn a dance routine. There are tons of dance programs online right now. Learn some hip hop or salsa something fun!
  4. Yoga! Take an at home yoga class. So calming and relaxing no yoga Matt needed you can use a towel.
  5. Back to school! Go back to school online of course. So much to learn don’t let anything stop you!
  6. gardening. Plant some shrubs, even if you only have a patio. If you can’t keep anything alive try a cactus or succulent that you basically have to try to kill.
  7. Picnic. Go outside and have a picnic. U can make the sandwiches or buy some from subway. Get a bottle of Stella Rosa my fav wine and enjoy some bae time with ur special bae.
  8. Lake. Lake trip! So much fun! I suggest buying a small boat or something to actually do on the water. Also good to have foldable chairs, canopy, ice chest, and grill.
  9. Make cocktails. Learn how to make a cocktail. Such a fun date night!
  10. Don’t get down on yourself if you do nothing. If you been working all your life you deserve it!!
enjoy! If you can think of anything else let us know!!!
