Is 40 the new 20?

After watching the GOAT Tom Brady in the Super Bowl I couldn’t help thinking he is at the top of his game right now at 42. I was always told 30 was the new 20, but Im beginning to think 40 the new 20. You think life is great when your 20, then life gets better when your 30 and if things only get better what’s the plateau?
Your 20’s you really get to know yourself, like all of you, you learn your preferences, and your triggers. In your 30’s you are in super self aware mode and have figured things out what’s important to you. and I gather your 40’s is when you flourish the most (without all the body aches and hospital trips).
I mean have you seen how JLo ages? Backwards and she’s 51! Halle Berry, they all age backwards but maybe the cheat code is just getting to that age.
I’m not quit 40 yet and am about to settle into my late 20’s. However some of my best friends are. Their kids are all grown and out of the house, they all have these fancy houses with pottery barn decor, their careers are set, their taking trips with cute outfits getting surgery’s just overall living life. As someone headed for their 40’s this is extremely exciting information. Most people make you feel like your life is on a downward spiral until you one day pass away. It’s great to find out we age like wine getting better with time. So keep living if this year is bad guess what, you learned! Learning about ourselves and how we can navigate through your lives. Don’t get down, you get better! Enjoy where you are in your life and trust the process.

Las Vegas Breakfast spots that will give you all the Valentine Feels

Here’s some dopely (if that’s a word) romantic breakfast spots in Vegas that will give you all the Valentine vibes and lots of Instagram worthy photos, which is what us women really want these days anyway.

Eat LV – I snuck this one in because the fooooood is mouth watering! Forget the scenery this little nook is located in downtown Vegas. For tourist – no, not the strip, downtown to us is anything past Fremont. The menu changes daily and no you can’t get what you had that one day, says so on the menu.

Cafe Lola – with beautiful floral decor the place sparkles of Instagram gimmick. They have cool things like house made cotton candy teddy bears and champagne tea brunch’s. Very, very cool events like daddy and daughter princess teas, and grinch high tea for the holidays, they give you two locations to enjoy. They even have a pop up in Macy’s during the holiday.

Mrs coco – a pink paradise! This place is the Ultimate in Instagram Worthy, and beyond beautiful. This is located in Lake Las Vegas which makes it even more spectacular because the peace, the lake, and the calm. Oh and everything tastes amazing with that decor!

Le Cafe Du Val – cute French bistro with two locations in Henderson and Summerlin. The breads and pastries are great! They have mimosas, avocado toast, salmon lox and some decent coffee. Don’t forget pinky out!

Park on Freemont – super whimscal Alice and wonderland theme. The outdoor area is amazing especially in Las Vegas. Doesn’t look like much but it’s a show stopper and the drinks are delish. Head on down the rabbit hole and grab those whimsy vibes.

Catch LV – If your on this planet you have seen a catch IG post. The floral background is a standout on Instagram. This is a dinner spot but you can take the pictures at any time just can’t see the rest of the amazing greenery.

Public House – this is the place that has the tree coming through the tables. It was previously community seating so I am not sure how that is working now but the decor is super sustainable if you get me. Great, great, great coffee! Cozy and a great local spot to eat at.

Lavo – I am local I have to put Lavo on the list. Uhhh not quit sure how this works because I remember dancing on tables and being squished beyond belief by crowds but hey I’m sure they figured it out right? For reservations Letzgitit.com not many promoters left but this one has the direct link.

So if you still want to stay home you can definitely eat good at home with this place.

Grown Up Valentines Day Gifts

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays I usually send all my gals and best guys Valentines Day cards. This is a great year to show people you love them. Here’s some adult Valentine goodie bags that are useful and cute.

Yuzu Soap Aloe Vera Bar Soap – sticking with the Aloe you Vera much theme. These little bars are amaze balls. The lavender scented one will give you the romance you are looking for and them an amazing shower experience.

Heartfelt by Anthropologie Ayurvedic Valentine Bar Soap – super cute heart shaped soaps covered in sheep’s wool. There are subtle scented in pink, mint and orange scented. These puppies are kinda expensive at $16.50 a pop but on Anthropologie’s website you can find a version on sale that are just as popping. That’s what I did at $5.97. I bought the goats milk and jasmine and am going to through them in my mom and aunts Valentine basket.

Heartfelt by Anthropologie in Pink

lush Foot Pumice – when you think lush you usually think expensive. Well these little things are about $6 bucks and last a pretty long time. That’s the same you would pay at Anywhere for a pumice. It smells delicious. That’s not the only product that is inexpensive from there and a great gift. Grab some charity pot quarters for a good cause to give out and then Grab a hand mask, shower steamer and a naked oil for yourself. PS: they also have watermelon sugar lip scrub *wink wink*

The Good Patch B12 Awake – there are different types of patches but I like the awake. If your in your 20’s you should know how important B12 is to you especially when your conquering your day. You can find these anywhere really and the price ranges from $5-12.

The Good Patch B12 – Awake

Paper Source Plantable Hearts – these little hearts are actually seed packets! They are cute, festive and will grow Perennial Wildflowers. They cost $10 but split them up, put them with you Valentine’s Day card just make sure to add directions.

Lee Canyon brining snow fun to Las Vegas

Most people don’t know that just an hour and 30 minutes away from Las Vegas there’s a small ski resort that will give u all the winter feels from the safety of 60 degree heat. Lee Canyon is an amazing little spot to get ur winter on. Here’s some travel tips to help you make the most of your trip!

I’m on the right with the black overalls from Dicks.

WHAT TO DO: First thing is book parking in advance. You can buy tickets at the ticket counter for everything else. Rental equipment is $49. Lift tickets which everyone will need if you get on the lift is $79. If you have never been skiing or snowboarding I would suggest getting lessons, they are $79 for up to four people. Totally worth it. I love Aaron but I’m sure all the other teachers are great. Tips are appreciated for them!

SAVE MONEY TIP: if you can’t tell it’s a little expensive. I know it’s a pandemic and a lot of us need free options, so here ya go. There is a small park just before you reach the canyon. You can bring chairs and inflatable tubes and set up shop. Bring your dog, some snacks and just hang.

FOOD & DRINK : They have a cafe and restaurant that are decent however my favorite spot was the second floor bar and not just because it was the only place you could get an actual alcoholic mixed drink not in a can. You can actually watch people ski down the slope from the bar. Amazing view and indoors. The food well. Don’t expect gourmet but it’s good.

WHAT TO WEAR: if you have never been just so you know you will get wet! Here’s what to wear to stay warm and dry. Wool socks is a must, if you don’t have them just double up. Snow pants, you can get black overalls at Dicks for just $35 bucks, as seen in the picture above. If you want to use what you have anything that is water proof will work. Make sure to put tights underneath yoga tights work great! A hoodie and a light jacket will work also. Gloves is a must! Remember you can strip off clothes but you can not go back home and bring more clothes.
PRO TIP: Perfect trip to bring that Fanny pack you never used for Id, money, sanitizer, and etc.

It’s a great escape from the crazy Las Vegas streets. If you go let me know what you thought!

Being successful at work/school while working and schooling from home

Photo by Frans Van Heerden on Pexels.com

We all have had to adjust recently some of us by working at home and if you haven’t, good for u, but it’s hard. It’s not impossible though, and I am here to help.

Everyone has probably told you this but first make sure to create a home office. Nothing fancy is necessary but you have to create an area with all your essentials you need for work or school. Tip: Keep things fun by getting bright colored items and things that will capture your attention. I love all things pink so my laptop has a highlighter pink case and A pink poof pen that I always forget to use but it’s cute. I love going into my office area and that’s half the battle.

Get an Agenda… I know I know you never use it. Being organized is essential to being successful. Maybe the organizer doesn’t work for you, maybe you want an oversized calendar on your desk so you can see important info, dates, and to do lists. I have an oversized 7 day calendar on the wall of my office (I tend to stand or walk in my office more than sit). I am a totally scatter brain so I have to write every idea immediately when I hear it so I also use an agenda when I remember.

Make sure your family know when you are in the office you are at work. My fiancé actually texts me while I’m in the home office and he is in the living room, because you can’t get anything done if your always distracted. Even if you write a blog you need time to focus to get your thoughts together and produce your best work.

Take a lunch. Very important to break the monotony of your work day and get a lunch. You don’t even have to spend money. I pack a lunch and eat outside most days when the weather is good. Especially during this quarantine it definitely kept me sane in the beginning.

Common mistakes

You don’t need a television anywhere close to where u are studying or doing conference calls. Shut it down, at least give yourself 2/3 hours of uninterrupted work.

Do not try to bring your computer to your bedroom, either you will fall asleep or never be able to sleep in your bed again without thinking about work. Stay out of your bedroom if you can I know it’s comfy but your trying to be productive.

5 Eats Near Vegas that Make you Say YUM

Photo by Gerald Jake Abangan on Pexels.com

As some of my favorite dining spots try to figure out how to survive, I have noticed some newbies in town that have made me pretty Happy. Since my favorite foodie places are bakeries and lunch spots, heres a few that will make you a foodie fan. Most are located in Henderson and Summerlin; I can only vouch for Henderson locations if your a local count on making these some staples in your everyday life; if your a tourist give them a try and help out our local community.

Hella Bakery – This is a Greek restaurant and although it says its a bakery, the best meal is Lunch. They have Lamb Chops, Meditarranean Kabobs and Gyros. The food is fresh and flavorfull; the environment is charming. The owner is usually around and he loves to talk so don’t be afraid to go chit chat with him.

Vegas Wine & Cheese – Ok so its not a restaurant. However, if your a Charcuterie fan or just love cheese like I do this is the place to go. They make custom Charcuteries starting at $35 for two people and $50 dollar option for 4 – 6 guests. They can do as much or as little as you want. I highly recommend the Fontina Meat and they have a goat Brie that is AMAZING!!! Kinda expensive think luxury.

The Butchers Block – In the same complex as Vegas Wine & Cheese there is this great butcher, that also has a location in the Summerlin area. If you want some fresh salmon, or a nice sized lobster, this is the place. Take home a burger for the night, they definitely got you with the “Best Burger” in town.

Harvest Bread Company – If you have never been here, you probably dont live in or just moved to Vegas. Fresh baked bread daily, and not just white or wheat. This is actually my favorite place during Halloween the Pumkin Bread is beyond! Try it out!

Bourbon & Biscuits – Do you like barbecue? Well this is a bbq place with smoked meats. Now it is kinda expensive but its delicious. I cant vouch for it all nor the sides but the chicken is finger licking and the ribs are fall off the bone.

Pit Stop – If your up for a drive close to Boulder City is the best little burger place outside of the city. They also have an amazing Turkey Burger and this restaurant has been here for more than 15 years. Try the sauteed mushrooms with it.

Gabi Coffee & Bakery – This is the Hidden Cafe if you have ever heard of it. A heavy anachronistic wooden door and an open sign shows you the way. You will love the ambience as its set up with an atrium feel. The coffees and boboa teas are so pretty.

Sapparo Sushi – I only like this because of the rotating sushi. If your looking for a cool place to bring a date, its interactive and the sushi is fresh.

Mrs. Coco’s – Head down to Lake Las Vegas and jump into a different world. A pink palace with flowers and beautiful decor. A great place for a Galentine party or Bachelorette, maybe take your daughters. They have wonderful coffees and lattes, just enjoy the view.

If you cant tell I love bakeries and lunch spots! Enjoy.. and please let me know what you think.

Steamboat, Colorado

Overlook Trail in Steamboat

Not Just for Winter

About a 3 hours from Denver, Colorado I recommend this for an upcoming girls trip/Bach party/birthday ect. I went during the Off Season (which i highly recommend), because I would be the first one to plant face first on some skis. I stayed at the Sheraton Hotel soon to be bought out by another chain hotel. The location was great, connected to everything that you would want to do while your there. The weather was amazing, the scenery phenomenal! The people are so nice, you know its like pulling teeth getting people to say hello back to you in Vegas, here the vibe is friendly and welcoming!! Lots of cool places on the Yampa River.. great place for not only skiing but all outdoor activities.

TOP THINGS TO DO:

1 Gondola Ride- Must Do; hit up the Happy Hour On Sunday it was awesome w live music seating is a problem if you have a big group but people are so friendly you are welcome to join tables.

2 Fish Creek Falls – We saw the waterfall and hiked about 1/2 mile it was awesome! very serene and beautiful I suggest it!

3 Strawberry Park Hot Springs – amazing place totally instagram worthy only problem is… NO SERVICE. its natural so if you are looking for super clean blue ocean waters this is not for you its slimmy. but a great experience.

Hot Springs

TOP PLACES TO EAT:

Mountain Tap Brewery – Pizzas and small plates, great fresh foods.

Top of the Gondola – I had the happy hour food it was amazing the shrimp cocktail was delicious and huge, the caprese salad was good wish it had some balsamic but other than that i was very happy w it!

Aurum Food & Wine – “top rated” restaurants in Steamboat, with executive chef Patrick Funk. First, the service was terrible. I ordered the Crab Crusted Halibut, with Black Pepper Crudi, Wilted Spinach, Bacon Lardons, Heirloom Tomato, pickled Mustard Seed Parmesan and Clam Broth, for $41.00 along with the Corn Chowder Soup. The Soup was terrible, runny, not the consistency you want a chowder to be… even it was a tomato chowder. The Halibut was okay, cooked great hated the accompaniments, dint like how soggy the the Crudi got in the Clam Broth…

STEAMBOAT VIBES I LOVED:

My family and I really enjoyed it, most things you could walk to, being from Vegas we don’t see much green but the scenery was amazing! I loved the emphases on health, mind, body and spirit. It is a great place to have a bachelorette party with your closes besties. Theres tons to do and see, in a quieter off season.

JoySticks!! – love them they are made by Gardenom they are all natural I personally used mine like a honey for my coffee and i love all things.. trendy and cool! they also have calm sticks both contain CBD

Humble Bee Botanicals – I got there loose tees called Happier Days. I love it and the price was right super cool super delicious teas. another trendy buy i couldn’t live without!

There are amazing local bakeries and soda fountain shops! they exceed even the fine dining! They also offer amazing Chai/Herbal Teas – Kombucha, stuff like that.. if you love birkenstocks, Lulumeon, patagonia and morels this is the spot for you LOL!

Def Bring your Hiking Boots & Cash (Some Places only Take Cash). Over all a great place to go for a few days to get away!

Mean Girls Themed Winter 31nderful Wonderland Girls Trip Birthday Party

When my bestie called and said she wanted to have a Winter 31nderful Wonderland birthday party out in Gatlinburg, Tennesse I was ready for action!! Gatlinburg is located in the smokey mountains so it makes a great place to visit, especially if you are from a big city, the serenity is relaxing. To make it personalized and special to her we decided to throw her a Mean Girls (our favorite movie) Theme Surprise Party for our last night in town. My besty and her friends met up in the Atlanta airport – this was her first time around snow so it made it an even funner occasion for us. Most of the decorations and items I did I before I left and just packed them in my suitcase…

Here’s what I did:

1 Personalized Pink Drawstring Backpacks – for any ski trip the one thing you must have is pockets and something to carry your belongings in. I choose a small drawstring backpack because the price was right (dollar store) and had a local sporting goods shop (Basic Sports in Henderson NV) put a birthday message and personalized each one.

The Mean Girls and There Fetch Backpacks lol!

2 Lodging – We rented out a sick cabin for authenticity through http://www.cabinsforyou.com/absolute_heaven.htm it was SICK!!! Only problem… it was in the mountain tops (the holly crap skinny road, type scary mountains) and each of us were very scared to drive!! And you definitely need a car for this place, I am sure there is lodging closer to town but we wanted the hot tub and an authentic cabin. It came with everything… a little scary because it was just a bunch of us girls but really beautiful.

3 Popcorn Boxes and Candy Holders – these I had left over from my grandmothers birthday party, totally worth it. So we did popcorn in our popcorn boxes and treats and candies. Amazon… is amazing!1

4 The Burn Book – Probably the easiest thing I did. I found some letters online, printed them out on card stock.. it has to be card stock or it doesn’t look as good. Also a quick tip blow up the letters a bit before printing. I found a black sketch pad with no lines in the inside at Target I wanted mine to be thick and have no lines so it was similar to the movies version. Next I really wanted to achieve the pink theme and look I was going for so I bought a role of wrapping paper that was a little brighter than the original light pink book, I then wrapped the book like a present. Last couple of steps were gluing on the Burn Book Letters to the book in the design like the movie then grab a bright/dark red lipstick and kiss the book in the middle and all around and your done! Check the DIY Page to see how mine turned out!

My Burn Book

5 Decorations – Because I’m a wedding planner I am always grabbing cute, cheap decorations wherever I can find them… I also love pink. I grabbed a few decorations and threw them in my bag. We all popped out to surprise her after a long day of Snow Tubing, it turned out awesome! What do you think…? I will post pics because it turned out absolutely amazing! Happy Birthday Bestie!!
