Lee Canyon brining snow fun to Las Vegas

Most people don’t know that just an hour and 30 minutes away from Las Vegas there’s a small ski resort that will give u all the winter feels from the safety of 60 degree heat. Lee Canyon is an amazing little spot to get ur winter on. Here’s some travel tips to help you make the most of your trip!

I’m on the right with the black overalls from Dicks.

WHAT TO DO: First thing is book parking in advance. You can buy tickets at the ticket counter for everything else. Rental equipment is $49. Lift tickets which everyone will need if you get on the lift is $79. If you have never been skiing or snowboarding I would suggest getting lessons, they are $79 for up to four people. Totally worth it. I love Aaron but I’m sure all the other teachers are great. Tips are appreciated for them!

SAVE MONEY TIP: if you can’t tell it’s a little expensive. I know it’s a pandemic and a lot of us need free options, so here ya go. There is a small park just before you reach the canyon. You can bring chairs and inflatable tubes and set up shop. Bring your dog, some snacks and just hang.

FOOD & DRINK : They have a cafe and restaurant that are decent however my favorite spot was the second floor bar and not just because it was the only place you could get an actual alcoholic mixed drink not in a can. You can actually watch people ski down the slope from the bar. Amazing view and indoors. The food well. Don’t expect gourmet but it’s good.

WHAT TO WEAR: if you have never been just so you know you will get wet! Here’s what to wear to stay warm and dry. Wool socks is a must, if you don’t have them just double up. Snow pants, you can get black overalls at Dicks for just $35 bucks, as seen in the picture above. If you want to use what you have anything that is water proof will work. Make sure to put tights underneath yoga tights work great! A hoodie and a light jacket will work also. Gloves is a must! Remember you can strip off clothes but you can not go back home and bring more clothes.
PRO TIP: Perfect trip to bring that Fanny pack you never used for Id, money, sanitizer, and etc.

It’s a great escape from the crazy Las Vegas streets. If you go let me know what you thought!

5 Eats Near Vegas that Make you Say YUM

Photo by Gerald Jake Abangan on Pexels.com

As some of my favorite dining spots try to figure out how to survive, I have noticed some newbies in town that have made me pretty Happy. Since my favorite foodie places are bakeries and lunch spots, heres a few that will make you a foodie fan. Most are located in Henderson and Summerlin; I can only vouch for Henderson locations if your a local count on making these some staples in your everyday life; if your a tourist give them a try and help out our local community.

Hella Bakery – This is a Greek restaurant and although it says its a bakery, the best meal is Lunch. They have Lamb Chops, Meditarranean Kabobs and Gyros. The food is fresh and flavorfull; the environment is charming. The owner is usually around and he loves to talk so don’t be afraid to go chit chat with him.

Vegas Wine & Cheese – Ok so its not a restaurant. However, if your a Charcuterie fan or just love cheese like I do this is the place to go. They make custom Charcuteries starting at $35 for two people and $50 dollar option for 4 – 6 guests. They can do as much or as little as you want. I highly recommend the Fontina Meat and they have a goat Brie that is AMAZING!!! Kinda expensive think luxury.

The Butchers Block – In the same complex as Vegas Wine & Cheese there is this great butcher, that also has a location in the Summerlin area. If you want some fresh salmon, or a nice sized lobster, this is the place. Take home a burger for the night, they definitely got you with the “Best Burger” in town.

Harvest Bread Company – If you have never been here, you probably dont live in or just moved to Vegas. Fresh baked bread daily, and not just white or wheat. This is actually my favorite place during Halloween the Pumkin Bread is beyond! Try it out!

Bourbon & Biscuits – Do you like barbecue? Well this is a bbq place with smoked meats. Now it is kinda expensive but its delicious. I cant vouch for it all nor the sides but the chicken is finger licking and the ribs are fall off the bone.

Pit Stop – If your up for a drive close to Boulder City is the best little burger place outside of the city. They also have an amazing Turkey Burger and this restaurant has been here for more than 15 years. Try the sauteed mushrooms with it.

Gabi Coffee & Bakery – This is the Hidden Cafe if you have ever heard of it. A heavy anachronistic wooden door and an open sign shows you the way. You will love the ambience as its set up with an atrium feel. The coffees and boboa teas are so pretty.

Sapparo Sushi – I only like this because of the rotating sushi. If your looking for a cool place to bring a date, its interactive and the sushi is fresh.

Mrs. Coco’s – Head down to Lake Las Vegas and jump into a different world. A pink palace with flowers and beautiful decor. A great place for a Galentine party or Bachelorette, maybe take your daughters. They have wonderful coffees and lattes, just enjoy the view.

If you cant tell I love bakeries and lunch spots! Enjoy.. and please let me know what you think.

Steamboat, Colorado

Overlook Trail in Steamboat

Not Just for Winter

About a 3 hours from Denver, Colorado I recommend this for an upcoming girls trip/Bach party/birthday ect. I went during the Off Season (which i highly recommend), because I would be the first one to plant face first on some skis. I stayed at the Sheraton Hotel soon to be bought out by another chain hotel. The location was great, connected to everything that you would want to do while your there. The weather was amazing, the scenery phenomenal! The people are so nice, you know its like pulling teeth getting people to say hello back to you in Vegas, here the vibe is friendly and welcoming!! Lots of cool places on the Yampa River.. great place for not only skiing but all outdoor activities.

TOP THINGS TO DO:

1 Gondola Ride- Must Do; hit up the Happy Hour On Sunday it was awesome w live music seating is a problem if you have a big group but people are so friendly you are welcome to join tables.

2 Fish Creek Falls – We saw the waterfall and hiked about 1/2 mile it was awesome! very serene and beautiful I suggest it!

3 Strawberry Park Hot Springs – amazing place totally instagram worthy only problem is… NO SERVICE. its natural so if you are looking for super clean blue ocean waters this is not for you its slimmy. but a great experience.

Hot Springs

TOP PLACES TO EAT:

Mountain Tap Brewery – Pizzas and small plates, great fresh foods.

Top of the Gondola – I had the happy hour food it was amazing the shrimp cocktail was delicious and huge, the caprese salad was good wish it had some balsamic but other than that i was very happy w it!

Aurum Food & Wine – “top rated” restaurants in Steamboat, with executive chef Patrick Funk. First, the service was terrible. I ordered the Crab Crusted Halibut, with Black Pepper Crudi, Wilted Spinach, Bacon Lardons, Heirloom Tomato, pickled Mustard Seed Parmesan and Clam Broth, for $41.00 along with the Corn Chowder Soup. The Soup was terrible, runny, not the consistency you want a chowder to be… even it was a tomato chowder. The Halibut was okay, cooked great hated the accompaniments, dint like how soggy the the Crudi got in the Clam Broth…

STEAMBOAT VIBES I LOVED:

My family and I really enjoyed it, most things you could walk to, being from Vegas we don’t see much green but the scenery was amazing! I loved the emphases on health, mind, body and spirit. It is a great place to have a bachelorette party with your closes besties. Theres tons to do and see, in a quieter off season.

JoySticks!! – love them they are made by Gardenom they are all natural I personally used mine like a honey for my coffee and i love all things.. trendy and cool! they also have calm sticks both contain CBD

Humble Bee Botanicals – I got there loose tees called Happier Days. I love it and the price was right super cool super delicious teas. another trendy buy i couldn’t live without!

There are amazing local bakeries and soda fountain shops! they exceed even the fine dining! They also offer amazing Chai/Herbal Teas – Kombucha, stuff like that.. if you love birkenstocks, Lulumeon, patagonia and morels this is the spot for you LOL!

Def Bring your Hiking Boots & Cash (Some Places only Take Cash). Over all a great place to go for a few days to get away!

Mean Girls Themed Winter 31nderful Wonderland Girls Trip Birthday Party

When my bestie called and said she wanted to have a Winter 31nderful Wonderland birthday party out in Gatlinburg, Tennesse I was ready for action!! Gatlinburg is located in the smokey mountains so it makes a great place to visit, especially if you are from a big city, the serenity is relaxing. To make it personalized and special to her we decided to throw her a Mean Girls (our favorite movie) Theme Surprise Party for our last night in town. My besty and her friends met up in the Atlanta airport – this was her first time around snow so it made it an even funner occasion for us. Most of the decorations and items I did I before I left and just packed them in my suitcase…

Here’s what I did:

1 Personalized Pink Drawstring Backpacks – for any ski trip the one thing you must have is pockets and something to carry your belongings in. I choose a small drawstring backpack because the price was right (dollar store) and had a local sporting goods shop (Basic Sports in Henderson NV) put a birthday message and personalized each one.

The Mean Girls and There Fetch Backpacks lol!

2 Lodging – We rented out a sick cabin for authenticity through http://www.cabinsforyou.com/absolute_heaven.htm it was SICK!!! Only problem… it was in the mountain tops (the holly crap skinny road, type scary mountains) and each of us were very scared to drive!! And you definitely need a car for this place, I am sure there is lodging closer to town but we wanted the hot tub and an authentic cabin. It came with everything… a little scary because it was just a bunch of us girls but really beautiful.

3 Popcorn Boxes and Candy Holders – these I had left over from my grandmothers birthday party, totally worth it. So we did popcorn in our popcorn boxes and treats and candies. Amazon… is amazing!1

4 The Burn Book – Probably the easiest thing I did. I found some letters online, printed them out on card stock.. it has to be card stock or it doesn’t look as good. Also a quick tip blow up the letters a bit before printing. I found a black sketch pad with no lines in the inside at Target I wanted mine to be thick and have no lines so it was similar to the movies version. Next I really wanted to achieve the pink theme and look I was going for so I bought a role of wrapping paper that was a little brighter than the original light pink book, I then wrapped the book like a present. Last couple of steps were gluing on the Burn Book Letters to the book in the design like the movie then grab a bright/dark red lipstick and kiss the book in the middle and all around and your done! Check the DIY Page to see how mine turned out!

My Burn Book

5 Decorations – Because I’m a wedding planner I am always grabbing cute, cheap decorations wherever I can find them… I also love pink. I grabbed a few decorations and threw them in my bag. We all popped out to surprise her after a long day of Snow Tubing, it turned out awesome! What do you think…? I will post pics because it turned out absolutely amazing! Happy Birthday Bestie!!

Ways to Better Yourself during Quarantine

Photo by Gerd Altmann on Pexels.com

Hopefully the quarantine in your city is finally getting ready to let up however with a few more weeks or months here’s some productive apps and learning tools to help you get better during quarantine. There are tons of free learning tools to help you in your industry. I use these tools to help, and I do not have a partnership with any of them, nor am I paying for any of their services currently.

Education-

Edx: You can download this to your phone, they have classes from Harvard and other different Universities. They also offer some free classes if you are interested in taking classes and not receiving a diploma.

Khan Academy: My bestie is a doctor, well she will be in like a month and she swears by this site! Her online tudor and a great place to learn.

Business –

Create & Cultivate: a woman’s organization that supports small business. They have a paid subscription however, they offer free services as well.

Lifestyle-

Guest of a Guest: New York based website with everything you want to know about whats popping in the city!

DoLA: LA based website that has everything you wanna know about lifestyle, things to do, places to go, yummy food to eat!

Hope that helps, I will update with more, and feel free to let me know if you have any of your own sources that are helpful.

How to stay out of the COVID Holiday Slump

No one likes a Grinch…especially this time of year, with everything going on I know its easy to get caught up in a pity party. No jobs, isolation and a global pandemic try your best not to feel totally down about the Holidays this year. Here are some tips on how to stay away from the slump this year.

Tip 1: Get out of the house – I know we are in isolation however, take a walk outside. The weather has a great way of making you feel the season. Its great to feel the crisp winter air on your cheeks.

Tip 2: Get a scented candle or air freshner – Dont you just love walking into your home and it smelling like a Merry Mimosa or Marshmello Heaven! This is such an easy tip. Get a seasonal scented candle. It makes it easy to want to get festive when it smells like your mom is making her famous Christmas Cookies in the kitchen. My suggestion is Bath & Body works. There 3 wick candles and wallflowers are amazing but they are very very strong. If you have allergies suggestion- Scentsy Berry and Bright is great.

Tip 3: Go Christmas Decoration Hunting – There is an App for that, if you can believe it! Since so many people are at home this year the Christmas decoration are out of sight this year! Just drive around and hunt them down! Take a late night trip with your significant other and bring some snacks along for the ride!

Tip 4: Fake Fireplace – If you dont really want to decorate this year here is a great way to get cozy. This fireplace ranges in sizes. I have a tiny condo so I bought the smallest one, and let me tell you it brings the holiday cheer without having to fuss with a ton of decorations. Hang your stocking around it and Wal-lha, Feeling FESTIVE!

Tip 5: Bake cookies – When I say bake I mean, go grab the Pilsbury kind thats in the refrigerator section. Already made dough, in ‘cutouts’ with Holiday shapes is an easy activity to do. Grab some cream cheese white frosting, food dye, and invite all your friends (well the entire 10 people you are legally allowed to have in your home) over for a cookie decorating and exchange.

Things to do in Vegas for Christmas

Bellagio Gardens: It is always beautiful but probably pretty hard to socially distance considering the area size is kind small and a lot of people go to see it. Worth it! Especially for a great snapshot.

Cosmo Ice Rink: Not sure how they do this with social distancing all I know is they are doing it. Probably hard to socially distance but they have great fire pits. You can make s’mores or at least you could before covid.

Ethel M’s: I hesitate to even mention them because they are all booked up reservations only.

Racetrack: What a perfect way to social distance and have some holiday fun!

Area 15: Visit there winter “wanderland” akes place Nov 27 – Dec 3 for all sorts of entewractive immersive fun filled holiday surprises and activities.

The Sand Dollar Christmas Pop Up Bar: This is brilliant, considering it’s just a bar with Christmas decorations. It’s very cute! The drinks are amazing, it is a bar so you might have to put some elbow in when your trying to order. Service is great, people are friendly and fun! Do it!

Santa Baby Pop Up Bar Tivoli Village: Ornament making, Staggered appointment, wall to wall Christmas decoration, drinks, so I guess make a reservation. Entry does cost.

Exploring Vegas

Hot Springs: Alkali Hot Springs is the closest but there are a ton to choose from. Some are hard to get to but this one is relatively easy and relaxing.

Boulder Beach: On the coast of Lake Mead, a man made beach great for most of the year! You can take your dog to a portion of the park; grill, camp and rent accommodations. Be prepared to back your car up into a rocky beach. You can also rent boats/jet ski’s, grab something to eat and drink at the restaurant.

Lake Las Vegas: Beautiful sights along the man made lake. Outdoor dining, light shopping along with lake activities like kayaking and paddle boating. There is a Hilton and Westin with decent restaurants inside.

Mission Hills Trail: Almost into Boulder City there is a trail called mission hills trail that you can walk, bring your animals, park in the parking lot and head on your way. Lots of traffic at this spot great place to meet up with a group.

Boulder City: Historic Boulder City is a must. The Pit Stop has the ultimate burger for any traveler, I suggest getting the turkey burger with sautéed mushrooms and fries. If your into breakfast you can go to the Tea Cup – a restaurant featured on the Food Networks Diners Drive-ins and Dives. Do some antiquing and then head back home.

Bars & Restaurants

Golden Tiki: Dive bar, but awesome drinks and a good atmosphere. Very different from the strip.

American Italian Club: Such a great atmosphere for dinner. You should dress up when going here. its the perfect old school place to have a wonderful dinner.

Gamers Paradise: This is actually a store, with old video games in it. Its really fun to look into the past if you get a chance might as well.

Hugos Cellar: Wonderful and expensive. Worth it if you hit a casino for an extra $200.

Are Vegas Nightclubs Open during the Pandemic?

The nightlife has changed in Las Vegas substantially. What people will soon describe as the good old days when clubs had dance floors and you could just wait in line to get inside things are very, very different. Currently the nightclubs are set up as lounges, where you can have up to six guests at each table and there is a minimum. At best you could get a no-limit minimum and at worst 1,000 minimum. Its still worth it to do bottle service if you have a group of 4 or more. I like XS for Thursdays (located at Wynn) its also indoor, outdoor. Our suggestion is to find a great host! Our host can be found at Letzgitit.com and if you have any questions feel free to hit us up.
